Altered Book Making gives new life to damaged or outdated books by using them as a canvas for creative expression. In this class, we’ll learn how to make an art journal from an old book!
Get inspired by the words and phrases on the pages as you create blackout poetry, layer other images, paint or stamps on the pages for collages, and make pockets or niches in your journal.
Instructor, Ingrid Spangler, will demonstrate how to incorporate found objects, mementos and even artwork on other media into your own personal journal.
Books and materials provided but we invite you to bring in any favorite scrap materials or found objects you may have. We’ll provide some rescued books to work with, but if you have an old hardcover book you’d like to use, please bring it along! We will even talk about what to do with the pages from the books we don’t use.
This class is beginner friendly - no experience necessary! 2 hours long with a maximum of 8 participants (12 years and older.)
