Intro to Mindful Weaving
Woven Stories: An Intro to Mindful Weaving
Join Linda Ruggiero for an evening of mindful weaving! In this 3-hour workshop you will learn the basics of hand weaving and will get to create a unique wall hanging to take home. We will begin class with an introduction to weaving on a frame loom, and students will learn the skills of warping the loom and weaving the basic stitch: plain weave. Once comfortable with these techniques, each student will be asked to consider a story or memory in their personal life that they would like to represent in their textile. Using color cards and color psychology theory, students will choose fabrics, yarn, and threads that represent elements of their stories to create their own personalized weavings.
No experience needed; all materials provided. If you have your own fabric or yarn scraps that you would like to use, please feel free to bring them.
This workshop is 3 hours long with a maximum of 8 participants (12 years and older).
