Pine Needle Basketry
Saturday, December 28 (6-9pm)
These long leaf southern pine needles are foraged locally and dried over several weeks. In this workshop, you will learn how to coil pine needles into a beautiful little basket or bowl using only a needle and waxed thread!
Choose which colors and shape you’d like your basket to be. We will provide green and brown pine needles and a variety of thread colors.
Learn three different stitches, how to begin and finish a basket, and how to form a rounded bowl or vertical cylinder.
Take home your little handmade basket along with instructions and enough materials to finish your piece if it needs more work.
The coiling skills learned in this class can be used to form vessels out of many fibers and materials like fabric, paper or dried grasses. Handmade coil baskets make beautiful trinket dishes and thoughtful gifts!
All materials provided.
3 hours long with a maximum of 6 participants (12 years and older.)
