Creative Patch Making

  • Pulpery 56 North 3rd Street Philadelphia, PA, 19106 United States (map)
$60.00

Saturday, February 8 ( 4-6pm )

A garment with a handmade patch tells a story, reflects your personality, and is FUN TO MAKE!

This art patch workshop will focus on developing skills and confidence around the art of hand stitching and applique, which is the process of layering textiles to create a visual image or pattern.

Julie Woodard of Juicebox Workshop will demonstrate basic hand-sewing techniques, and share examples from her closet. Participants will go home with a handmade patch and the skills and the creative inspiration to continue extending the life of items in their wardrobe and around their home.

A big part of Julie’s textile practice centers around repurposing items that belonged to her loved ones or were salvaged from interesting places. If you have any textiles from home that you’d like to integrate into your designs (ribbons, buttons, and beads work too!), please bring them along. We’ll share stories as we create.

Basic hand sewing experience is helpful, but not required.

This workshop is 2 hours long with a maximum of 8 participants.
(12 years and older).
