Saturday, November 23 ( 2-4pm )
In this workshop, Julie Woodard of Juicebox Workshop will guide participants through some foundational methods to repair textiles in their closet and throughout their home.
Each person should bring a garment with a hole, snag, or stain that they would like to repair. Julie will provide an overview of mending techniques, tools, and tips for getting started, from selecting a needle and thread to practicing basic types of stitches. Julie will share examples and demonstrate techniques from her own closet that feature appliquéd and embroidered mends.
Participants will go home with a visibly mended garment and the skills and the creative inspiration to continue repairing and revitalizing items in their wardrobe. This workshop is open to teens and adults. Basic hand sewing experience is helpful, but not required.
Participants should bring:
A garment to mend (non-stretch, heavyweight cotton or wool is ideal)
Favorite threads and fabric scraps (optional)
2 hours long with a maximum of 8 participants.
(12 years and older).
